Join us for Besties!

With its 2023-2024 season Chosen Family, Queer Urban Orchestra dedicates a full year to celebrating the liberating and healing power of kinship bonds rooted in friendship.

Besties launches our season. Two scintillating overtures celebrate the longtime romantic relationship and even longer friendship between two of America’s most important composers: Samuel Barber and Gian Carlo Menotti. “Luminous, expressive” (The New York Times) soprano Ariadne Greif joins the orchestra to perform works by three of her best buddies — Jessie Montgomery, Eve Beglarian, and Alex Temple — along with music by great friends Alma Mahler and Alexander von Zemlinsky. With each movement embodying the spirit of one of the composer’s dear friends, Edward Elgar’s sweeping Enigma Variations anchors the program. Plus, Youth Pride Chorus sings in the full version of the theme song to The Golden Girls!

We’re excited to announce that this concert will be performed at Peter Norton Symphony Space.   Symphony Space has its own box office — you can buy tickets online or in advance at the box office for $30 adult/$25 students seniors. Day of tickets are $35/$30. All ticket prices includes a $5 service charge per ticket from Symphony Space.
