How did you come to join QUO?
I joined QUO in the spring of 2011, just a few months after moving to New York from Northern Idaho. I hadn’t played much since college and was looking for a way to get back into playing and have fun with it at the same time. QUO has been the perfect blend of fun and satisfyingly hard work.

What is your favorite place to take friends visiting NYC?
I take my friends to Williamsburg to wander the shops on Bedford. It’s never where they expect to be taken, but they always love it.

What musical symbol best defines you and why?
Rubato. I like to be in charge and do my own thing. Sorry conductors!

How long have you been playing violin?
I started playing the violin quite late. At 15, I had a lot of musical experience but had never touched a stringed instrument. That summer, I decided quite suddenly that the violin was going to be my instrument and with hard work and a lot of lessons, I got there.

Question from Charlie: If you were told you had to give up violin and play another instrument, which would you choose and why?
It may seem basic, but I would focus on improving my piano skills. As a music theory major in college, I took the required two years of class piano, but the expanse of black and white keys still looks like a foreign land to me. If I could sit down and effortlessly bang out a few Broadway show tunes, I would be a very happy girl.
