The third concert in our Queer We Are series featured the winner of QUO’s annual concert competition: Paul Robertson, who performed the Mayazumi Concertino for Xylophone and Orchestra. We also performed orchestra-member Sayed Safavynia’s Discovery, and a symphony by the dean of African-American composers, William Grant Still.

Won’t Back Down
Our 2018-2019 Season is Queer We Are, and the first concert — Won’t Back Down — is a tribute to those who face and overcome adversity. For the third concert in our We Are One series, QUO presented a work of little-known Florence Price, who was the first African-American woman to have a work performed by a major US orchestra.
